Here are some examples of projects completed

Improving the performance  of Advisory Councils in a non-profit healthcare organization

Action Research, Group Facilitation, Coaching

The Advisory Councils (AC) with the North West Kidney Center (NKC) represent the interests of the different regions in which NKC operates. The AC chairs were a group with a wide range of professional lives,  backgrounds, races and ages.

The project was designed to increase the contribution of the ACs to NKC through more co-operation of the chairs leveraging their differences. Additionally, it strengthened the CEO's influence on the chair's effectiveness in leading the ACs. After gathering data with all participants, I coached the CEO, and designed and facilitated a team meeting in which they redefined responsibilities. The results were time savings for the CEO through more delegation to the AC chairs, yearly contribution measures, a crisp responsibility sheet  and work plan for the ACs, increased team effectiveness of the AC chairs and increased commitment of the CEO and the chairs.

Building a clear project direction and a  committed project team

Team Building, Appreciative Inquiry, Group Facilitation

The Law Income Housing Institute (LIHI) established the Resident Technology Initiative (RTI) to define technology trainings that help residents grow their income potential. To secure long-term funding, LIHI put together a diverse team with members from different LIHI departments, residents and volunteers, different ages and races. Our interventions were based on our observations and  increased the team members' self-awareness  - especially around their differences -, openness and the usage of effective behaviors. We helped the members bridge the differences in education as well as living conditions. The team became committed and coherent. Together, they developed a commitment statement for a strategic direction and creation of immediate action items.

Development of the board and a strategic plan

Board Development, Group Facilitation, Strategic Planning

Freedom Project wanted to grow from a founder-led group of volunteers to a  board-led non-profit organization. The board brought together members of professional backgrounds, educational levels, criminal and educational background. They needed to develop the board as a team, clarify the strategic direction and roles and start working with in the strategic planning process. After inquiring into the situation we facilitated two board retreats that confirmed a mission and strategic vision and increased commitment of board members and created cohesion. Additionally, we trained the board president in leading the board.

Board development and a strategic plan

Board Development, Group Facilitation, Strategic Planning

Monika founded Raw Network of Washington and wanted to create a shared future with the new board, start the strategic plan and build a coherent team. I used an Appreciative Inquiry workshop to enable the new board members to learn about their differences and their benefits quickly on a relevant level and bring them together as a team. I invited them with thought-provoking questions and observations to develop a committed strategic direction. The workshop build a coherent team that developed a shared vision as well as an outline for a strategic plan the they could implement.
